How Self-Funded Health Plans Work


This course is designed to provide a general overview of how self-funded health plans work. The speaker will first provide a general overview of the terms and components within a self-funded plan, then dive into how self-funded ASO (Administrative Services Only) and level funded plans work, after which he will show the mechanics behind self-funded plans and how all the components fit together.

One hour of Kansas continuing education credit is available and Missouri credit is pending

Jason Powers is an employee benefits specialist actively working in the health insurance industry since 2000.  He is a managing partner of Legacy Brokers and a contributing member of several insurance industry organizations, previously serving as the Legislative Chair for the New Agent Advisory Group, a special task force unit of the National Association of Health Underwriters.  Over the years, Jason has actively met with key legislators in his community and in Washington DC to advocate for consumer protections within the scope of any national health care reform efforts.

Prior to forming Legacy, he built a very successful book of health insurance business as a personal producer, and now brings that experience and industry knowledge to the agents he works with. He understands the needs of employers and works to help agents build, protect and preserve their own business.              

Must be a 2024 member in order to receive the one hour of credit.  There is a 24 hour cancellation policy.
