In today’s highly regulated and complex insurance landscape, client-facing professionals in the employee benefits industry must do more than offer product options—they must communicate risk clearly, avoid E&O exposure, and ensure regulatory alignment when presenting plan recommendations. This session provides licensed professionals with tools to elevate the quality and clarity of their benefits-related guidance, especially in high-stakes or time-compressed environments.
By reinforcing principles of risk management, underwriting, and insurance law, this course prepares professionals to lead more effective plan presentations and protect all parties involved—carrier, broker, and client.
Through the lens of real-world consulting scenarios, the course explores how to properly:
- Interpret benefit plan provisions and funding methods (e.g., fully insured vs. ASO/self-funded)
- Analyze insurance policy options for appropriateness and suitability
- Minimize miscommunication that may lead to client misunderstanding or professional liability
- Understand the legal and actuarial implications of benefit recommendations
- Navigate shared responsibilities between carriers and brokers when advising clients
